The Supreme Court upheld the conviction of Bollywood starlet Monica Bedi in a fake passport case.

A bench comprising Justices B Sudershan Reddy and S S Nijjar, however, modified the sentence to the period already undergone.

A trial court in Hyderabad had sentenced her to three years’ imprisonment. The Andhra Pradesh High Court had upheld the trial court’s order.

She was acquitted by the trial court, Bhopal in another case of travelling on a fake passport.

Mafia don Abu Salem has been claiming that Monica Bedi was married to him.

The claim has been strongly denied by Bedi.
